1. Let Love 05:04
I won’t take it no more You have me down on my knees You can’t hurt me anymore With your lies and your please Open up your heart Look inside to find your peace Maybe somehow you could start To let your lovelight shine on me I don’t need your sorrow I don’t want your pain I won’t wait till tomorrow Till I see you again Let love set you free Let time heal your soul Let love help you see Let time give you hope You can’t take it no more With that weight on your shoulders You can’t start another war If you don’t have any soldiers Open up your soul now Or your world will just get colder With no where else to go now Who will be your saviour?
2.
If I could Turn back time You know I would Commit the same crime I’d try Just a little too hard Swallow my pride Let down my guard I can’t swim But I’ll jump right in I’ll cross the river for you I'll cross the river for you I'll cross the river for you I’ll build a bridge to get through You lift me up Off the ground Make me feel Like I’m flying But I don’t know What’s up or down But I won’t stop Till I’m dyin
3.
Try 04:34
Wake up and smell the coffee Make up and say you’re sorry Speak up and say it loudly Make love and you’ll be happy Doesn’t matter where I’m from Doesn’t matter where I’ve been Doesn’t matter who you are Doesn’t matter we’ve all got to live Try Try Try Try a little harder Wake up and wipe your eyes Stand up and recognize Look up don’t patronize Get up and we will rise Doesn’t matter where I’m from Doesn’t matter where I’ve been Doesn’t matter who you are Doesn’t matter we’ve all got to live Wake up stop wasting time Fess up confess your crime Save up don’t waste a dime Some day your bell will chime Doesn’t matter where I’m from Doesn’t matter where I’ve been Doesn’t matter who you are Doesn’t matter we’ve all got to live

Holding on to yesterday The day we loved, and freed us from the pain And everytime I saw that look upon your face My eyes could not escape Holding on to those better days Those times we lay asleep in each others arms Gave my all help me heal my heart Let’s go back to the start Please don’t leave me Please Don’t leave me Be Please don’t leave me Please don’t leave me be Remembering those Summer nights Filled with joy we grew stronger everyday Never afar, a heartbeat away Our lives were here to stay Remembering all those sleepless nights At night we watched the stars in each other’s arms Held on tight in another place The world just disappeared I’m keeping hold of our memories Those times were good we fell so deep in love Gave you my all you helped me heal my heart Our lives began to start Remembering those sleepless nights When times get rough you’d take the pain away Lives were there together we were sane Our universe is one
5.
You showed me love When I was low You held my hand And didn’t let go You won’t go Now open your mind, body and soul And won’t you settle down, look around, and take a breath I gave you hope When you were lost I gave you my soul No matter the cost At what cost So please don’t live, just to get across Won’t you settle down, look around, and take a breath We’ve come too far To turn back around You reach for the sky With your feet on the ground Stand your ground And it’s alright, if it can’t be found Won’t you settle down, look around, and take a breath
6.
I'll Be Gone 03:48
Don’t turn your back on me Cause I can’t take it Don’t turn your back on me Cause I can’t take it And if you don’t show me love I’ll be gone Don’t turn your eyes away These tears I ain’t fakin’ Don’t turn your eyes away These tears I ain’t fakin’ And if you don’t feel the shame I’ll be gone Don’t turn your pride on me Cause I won’t wait here Don’t turn your pride on me Cause I won’t wait here And if you don’t show me love I’ll be gone Don’t kick me when I’m down Cause I won’t lay here Don’t kick me when I’m down Cause I won’t lay here And if you don’t walk away I’ll be gone
7.
Black Dog Gotta keep moving Move from town to town Don’t matter where I go Black dog don’t leave me alone They keep chasing Chase me from miles around Don’t matter where I go Black dog don’t leave me alone Can’t stop screaming Scream till I can’t speak I’m sick and tired and low Black dog don’t leave me alone I feel like hurting I put a hurt on you Don’t matter where I go Black dog don’t leave me alone
8.
I’m Checkin on my phone To see what time it is When you’ll be home The midnight hour missed I can’t wait any longer I hear a sound and I look over Nobody at the door Nobody at the door Nobody at the door Nobody at the door You called me on the phone You would be a little late You said you were alone But it sounded like a date The sun came up and you weren’t there So I got up without a care You won’t look me in the eye You won’t say what you did last night You won’t let me say goodbye But I could leave by the end of the night

about

The album sounds warm and inviting, recorded straight onto 2" tape through a 1978 MCI 24 track tape machine at the legendary Aviary Recording Studio in Abbotsford by Fraser Montgomery and Nick Edin. The addition of Ben Wicks (bass guitar) and Cameron Smith (drums) to the lineup have completed the JYB puzzle; the band has taken on a fresh energy and chemistry and has never sounded better.

'Let Love' weaves seamlessly through soul, funk and blues drawing influences from the sounds of Muscle Shoals, New Orleans, and 70's soul. Tone, vibe and the band's performances are placed above clinical perfection. The sound of the band is a model of simplicity: a Les Paul straight into a Deluxe Reverb, Hammond into an old Leslie, a P Bass straight into an amp, and a 70's Ludwig kit. Song craft was the biggest focus for this album with lyrics tackling social issues important to the band. And it was the songs that informed how the band approached the record, resulting in a cohesiveness that could only be born out of collaboration between everyone. Final touches were imbued by Adam Dempsey at Jack the Bear’s Deluxe Mastering and James Grim with the album cover design.

This record has been approached with love and integrity by everyone that has worked on it and will come straight through in the opening notes. ‘Let Love’ will be available from 17 June from www.justinyapband.com or in person at a JYB show at a venue or festival near you!
